The Kano State Police Command has officially reaffirmed its total restriction on all durbar events throughout the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, made this known during a joint press briefing at the Police Headquarters in Bompai, following the Kano State Government’s announcement of the ban.
The Police warned that all forms of public horse riding would not be permitted without prior written approval, which must be sought at least 72 hours before the event.
The command said the measure is aimed at maintaining law and order, particularly amid rising tensions surrounding durbar activities by the 15th and 16th Emirs of Kano, Aminu Bayero and Muhammadu Sanusi II.
