The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a 20-minute interruption of electricity supply to some areas within the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) network on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
TCN, in a notice issued on Friday, said the interruption would be caused by annual preventive maintenance on the Gwarinpa–Suleja 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgears and associated equipment at the Suleja Transmission Substation.
The maintenance is scheduled to take place between 1:00pm and 4:00pm.
According to the transmission company, the affected areas include Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and their environs.
“Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will experience a 20-minute interruption of power supply only to customers in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and environs,” TCN said in a statement posted on X.
The company explained that the brief interruption would allow electricity load to be transferred from Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to Kubwa–Suleja Line 1 while the maintenance work is carried out.
“The interruption is to enable the transfer of load from Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to Kubwa–Suleja Line 1 to facilitate the maintenance exercise without a prolonged outage,” TCN said.
The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the exercise may cause.
“TCN apologises for any inconvenience this may cause consumers in the affected areas,” it added.
