The Delta State Government has constituted an eight-member Administrative Panel of Inquiry to investigate the death of a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Adeda Ekwevugbe.
Ekwevugbe died at his workplace, with the circumstances surrounding his death remaining unclear and raising concerns among civil servants and organised labour.
The government said the Police had commenced investigation into the incident, while the administrative panel, comprising government officials and labour representatives, has been given two weeks to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to the government, the panel’s findings will guide its response and ensure that all issues arising from the incident are addressed in accordance with the law.
The state government commiserated with Ekwevugbe’s family and assured civil servants of its commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
