Premier League clubs have set a new summer transfer spending record after pouring around £3.46 billion ($4.67 billion) into player recruitment during the 2026 window. The figure, reported by Reuters, eclipses the previous record of just over £3 billion set last summer and underlines the extraordinary financial power of England’s top flight.
According to Reuters, Manchester City led the spending charts with £458 million invested, while Chelsea spent £349 million and Tottenham Hotspur committed £303 million as clubs continued to reshape their squads after the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The window also produced four transfers that entered the top 11 most expensive signings in Premier League history.
The spending was not restricted to the traditional elite.
