The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a suspected bandit attack on Sabon Gulbi Village in Musawa Local Government Area, killing one of the attackers and recovering an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and an operational motorcycle.
The command said the operation was carried out by a joint tactical team comprising police operatives and personnel of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC).
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on July 29 after the police received a distress call that armed bandits had invaded Sabon Gulbi Village.
He said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Musawa immediately mobilised the joint security team to the community, where they engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle.

“The operatives successfully repelled the attack, neutralising one of the bandits, while several others escaped with varying degrees of gunshot injuries,” the statement said.
The police said a search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing five rounds of live ammunition and an operational motorcycle believed to have been used by the fleeing suspects.
He added that efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing bandits.
According to the statement, the State Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, praised the synergy between the police and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, while commending the operatives for their bravery and professionalism.
The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or other security agencies.
