The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola , has accused Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of using President Bola Tinubu’s name to win the support of voters ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking on Friday in his hometown of Iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area, during a meeting with supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyetola said President Tinubu was firmly backing the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
He urged residents of Iragbiji and other eligible voters to support Oyebamiji at the polls to ensure the APC’s victory.
Oyetola also called on those yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so before the August 7 deadline in order to participate in the election.
According to the minister, the people of Iragbiji should repay the Federal Government’s support for the community by voting for the APC. He dismissed claims that President Tinubu was supporting any other candidate in the election.
“What we can use to pay back all we have seen in Iragbiji is to vote for APC. Where the President is, is where the party is. We shouldn’t see any Iragbiji citizen doing otherwise.
“They are saying the President is supporting them. It’s a lie. Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) is the candidate of Mr President, and he has been supporting him in every way. Everything they are saying is false.
“Those that are yet to collect their PVCs should go and do so. They still have the opportunity until August 7,” Oyetola said.
