The United States Embassy based in Addis Ababa has issued a security advisory to American nationals residing in Ethiopia regarding intelligence reports concerning potential long-range strikes directed at military facilities within the country.
In a security alert issued on Wednesday, the embassy said the attacks had reportedly occurred on several occasions in October.
The embassy urged US citizens to exercise caution, follow instructions from local authorities and remain alert to developments.
It specifically advised Americans not to travel to the Amhara Region, including Lalibela, Tigray Region or Afar Region for any reason.
US citizens already in those areas were advised to leave if it was safe to do so, or shelter in place until conditions improve.
