Nigeria and Etihad Airways are exploring a broader strategic partnership aimed at strengthening aviation ties between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.

This development was disclosed by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, in a post on his verified X handle on Thursday.

The development according to him followed discussions with the leadership of Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi.

Me Keyamo said the talks on Thursday, focused on the planned commencement of the airline’s daily Abu Dhabi-Lagos service from March 18, 2027.

It also centred on opportunities for deeper cooperation in connectivity, investment, aviation training, technology and cargo.

As part of the engagement, the Nigerian delegation visited Etihad Aviation Training and Zayed International Airport to explore opportunities for capacity building and draw lessons from Abu Dhabi’s aviation ecosystem.

The engagement is expected to further strengthen Nigeria-UAE aviation relations while opening new opportunities for investment, skills development and improved air connectivity between both countries.
