News NCoS, Immigration Service Strengthen Ties in Kogi, Pledge Joint Action on Security

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kogi State Command, and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kogi State Command, have resolved to deepen inter-agency collaboration in a bid to strengthen the state’s overall security architecture.
The resolve followed a familiarization visit paid by the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kogi State Command, C.A. Okofu, to the Controller of Corrections, NCoS Kogi State Command, CC Hadiza Inna Aminu, at the Command’s State Headquarters in Lokoja.
According to a statement signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Correctional Service, Kogi State Command, DSC Yabagi Abdullahi Umar, the visit was aimed at strengthening ties between both services and fostering a unified approach to intelligence sharing, border control, and internal security operations across the state.
Welcoming the delegation, CC Aminu congratulated Comptroller Okofu on his recent deployment to Kogi State, describing the visit as timely given the demands of the current security landscape for deliberate synergy among security agencies.
She assured the Immigration Service of the NCoS’s unwavering support and collaboration in tackling emerging security threats, particularly those bordering on custodial management, illegal migration, and trans-border crimes.
“NCoS remains committed to a whole-of-society and whole-of-government approach to security. We cannot work in silos. Our doors are open for joint operations, intelligence sharing, and capacity building with sister agencies,” she stated.
Responding, Comptroller Okofu expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded him and his team, explaining that the visit was intended to formally introduce himself to the Command and explore areas of mutual cooperation to enhance security in the state.
He noted that the Immigration Service and the NCoS share overlapping mandates in areas such as identity management, monitoring of foreign inmates, and securing correctional facilities against external threats, and called for sustained collaboration, particularly in information exchange and joint security operations.
Both heads of agencies reaffirmed their commitment to the directive of their respective Service Chiefs on inter-agency synergy, describing it as a critical tool for effective crime prevention, national security, and public safety.
The visit ended with an exchange of pleasantries and a tour of key units within the Command Headquarters.
