Candidates who have lost access to the phone number or email address registered with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) can now update their details through a new controlled process.
The board said the service commenced on September 21, 2026, but warned that it is subject to strict identity and biometric verification.
Here are 10 things candidates need to know:
1. The service is for candidates with genuine access problems
JAMB said candidates who have genuinely lost access to their registered GSM number or email address can apply to update their details.
3. Candidates must visit designated JAMB centres
The update can only be carried out at designated JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.
JAMB said its State Offices will provide the service where applicable.
5. Identity verification is compulsory
Candidates must undergo identity verification before their registered contact details can be changed.
6. Biometric verification is also required
JAMB said the process includes strict biometric verification as part of measures to prevent unauthorised changes.
7. The service can only be used once
Candidates are allowed to access the SIM or email update service only once, according to the board.
8. Candidates should avoid unofficial agents
JAMB warned candidates against using unauthorised persons or channels to change their registered details.
9. The process is designed to protect candidates
The controlled system is intended to help candidates recover access to their JAMB accounts while reducing the risk of fraudulent changes.
10. Candidates should use only official JAMB channels
JAMB urged candidates to visit designated centres and follow the approved process rather than relying on individuals claiming to offer the service.
“Please note: The service can be accessed only once and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification,” JAMB said.
