Two young men, Aliyu Adamu and Mubarak Abdussalam, have been condemned to death by hanging for murder by a Kano State High Court, while their co-defendant, Sadik Sanusi, bagged a seven-year jail term.
The Kano State Government had charged the trio with criminal conspiracy, murder and concealing a crime.
Delivering judgment, Justice Fatima Adamu of Court 18, Miller Road, said the prosecution, led by Barrister Salisu Muhammad Tahir, had presented sufficient evidence to establish the charges against the defendants.
The court found Aliyu Adamu and Mubarak Abdussalam guilty of killing Alhaji Dahiru, a resident of Yankusa, by stabbing him with a knife.
It also found them guilty of conspiring with Sadik Sanusi, who allegedly used his commercial tricycle to convey them to the scene where they burnt the victim’s body.
The prosecution said the defendants committed the offence in an attempt to seize the deceased’s land ownership documents.
