Senator Ned Nwoko has called on the public, particularly fans and online commentators following actress Regina Daniels, to allow her adequate privacy as she heals from ongoing health difficulties.
Nwoko appealed in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Monday, expressing concern over what he described as the circulation of false and disturbing reports about the actress, including fabricated death announcements.
He said Daniels had been through a lot and needed love, support and an opportunity to recover rather than public criticism.
“I make this appeal not just for her sake, but also for the sake of the kids, who are very well cared for and deserve to see their mother supported, loved and given every opportunity to get better,” he said.
The senator said a video Daniels shared on her birthday had offered the public a glimpse into some of the health challenges she had been dealing with.
“The video she shared on her birthday gave people a glimpse of some of the health challenges she has been dealing with. As someone who knows what she has been through, I can tell you that this is not a time to judge, vilify or add to her burdens,” he stated.
According to him, Daniels’ well-being has remained a concern to him despite the difficulties in their relationship, adding that this concern was responsible for bringing aspects of their private situation into the public domain.
Nwoko also condemned the circulation of misleading reports about the actress, warning that such publications were distressing to her and could undermine her recovery.
“Regina sees many of these posts, and they are deeply distressing. They do nothing to support her recovery; rather, they add to the burden she is already carrying,” he said.
He urged her fans to discourage the spread of such content rather than amplify it, particularly reports falsely announcing her death or making misleading claims about her health and personal circumstances.
Nwoko further threatened legal action against individuals responsible for deliberately spreading false information about the actress.
“Let me make this very clear: I will not tolerate the deliberate spread of false information about Regina, particularly fabricated reports about her death, health or personal circumstances,” he said.
He added that publications found to be responsible for such reports were being documented and that those behind them would be held accountable through appropriate legal channels.
“We are documenting these publications, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable through the appropriate legal channels,” he stated.
Nwoko maintained that Daniels deserved the opportunity to recover without being subjected to what he described as a fresh wave of fabricated stories every day.
TVC News reports that Nwoko and Daniels share two sons.
