The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding digital learning and promoting technology-driven education, describing innovation as key to preparing students for the demands of the 21st-century economy.
The assurance was given during the unveiling of the TETFund-sponsored Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON) at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Ekiadolor in Edo State.
The state government commended the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and TETFund for driving digital transformation in tertiary institutions.
Victor Ureshemi Akande Special Adviser to Governor Monday Okpebholo on Student Affairs and Mobilization, said the deployment of the E-DON 98-inch QR Interactive Smart Board and its embedded 3D Animation Educational Software marked a major step towards improving teaching and learning through indigenous technology.
Akande said the initiative demonstrates the potential of home-grown innovation to transform education, adding that students deserve access to world-class digital learning tools that will equip them with the knowledge, creativity and skills needed to compete globally.
He said artificial intelligence and digital technology have become central to modern education, noting that institutions embracing innovation are better positioned to produce graduates who can contribute meaningfully to national development.
The representative said Governor Okpebholo’s administration, through its SHINE Agenda, remains committed to promoting digital learning, indigenous innovation and student development across tertiary institutions.
He added that the government would continue to pursue strategic partnerships to expand access to modern educational infrastructure and digital learning tools in both tertiary and basic education institutions.
He described the project as an investment in the future of Edo students and called for sustained collaboration to build an education system that prepares young Nigerians for global opportunities.
