Women across several states have begun grassroots mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with the APC Women’s Directorate activating ward and community structures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The mobilisation, led by the Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, is being conducted under the leadership of First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The directorate says its strategy is to reach 176,846 communities across Nigeria and strengthen engagement with women at the grassroots.
Meetings and mobilisation activities are already underway in wards across Jigawa, Kano, Zamfara, Kwara, Imo, Cross River, Benue, Plateau, Oyo, Ondo, Rivers and Osun states, among others.
The women are being mobilised to engage residents in their communities and promote what the directorate describes as the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
Among the programmes highlighted is the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, which the women say has helped families meet tuition and upkeep costs for their children in tertiary institutions.
They also pointed to empowerment programmes implemented through the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, which they say have improved the livelihoods of beneficiaries.
The mobilisation comes as political parties begin strengthening their grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
The APC Women’s Directorate says the ongoing ward and community engagements are aimed at building a unified women’s support base for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
It described the campaign as a nationwide effort anchored on grassroots participation, with the slogan: “APC Women, One Strength, Our Victory.”
