Oyo APC: Folarin Pushes For Reconciliation And Welcomes Defectors

Teslim Folarin, a former Senate Leader, has called upon dissatisfied members of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State to set aside their grievances, rallying behind President Bola Tinubu and other party flagbearers ahead of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Folarin, the Oyo State Coordinator of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, made the appeal during a meeting with members of the party’s State Executive Committee at its secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

He stressed that reconciliation, mutual respect and party discipline were essential to strengthening the APC’s electoral prospects across the state’s 33 local government areas.

“I am fully committed to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the success of all APC candidates in Oyo State in the 2027 general elections,” he said.

Folarin who also serves as Oyo State Ambassador for Renewed Hope, urged party leaders and stakeholders to place collective interests above personal grievances and internal disagreements.

He said the forthcoming elections offered the party an opportunity to rebuild confidence, strengthen its structures and consolidate its grassroots support base.

In a related development, Folarin joined the state APC leadership to welcome former councillors who served between 2021 and 2024 under the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) into the ruling party.

He described their defection as an opportunity to expand the APC’s membership and strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of the elections.

Folarin urged the new members to work harmoniously with existing party faithful and contribute to the party’s electoral objectives.

The Oyo APC Chairman, Chief Moses Alake, commended Folarin for embracing reconciliation and promoting unity within the party.

“We appreciate Senator Teslim Folarin for sheathing his sword and embracing peace. Your decision is important to strengthening unity within our party as we prepare for the forthcoming elections,” Alake said.

After the meeting with the State Executive Committee, Folarin met with Local Government Ambassadors for Renewed Hope and charged them to intensify grassroots mobilisation and door-to-door campaigns.

He urged the ambassadors to engage directly with voters, communicate the Tinubu administration’s policies and achievements, and strengthen mobilisation at ward and polling-unit levels.

As part of efforts to improve the coordination of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Oyo State, Folarin announced the appointment of new officials.

The appointees are Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle as State Deputy Coordinator; Hon. Yinka Taiwo as Assistant State Coordinator; Engr. Idris Adeoye as Director of Budget, Finance and Resource Management; Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete as Secretary; and Hon. Gbenga Olayemi as Director of Inter-Party Affairs.

Folarin charged the appointees to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and commitment to the party’s electoral objectives.

He reaffirmed his readiness to work with party leaders, executives and grassroots members to strengthen internal cohesion, expand membership and mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election and other APC candidates in 2027.
