A Chief Magistrate court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has arraigned one Oladeji Ojo, 41, over an alleged fraud of N3.8m.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant, in June 2026 at about 10:00 hours at Ado-Ekiti, in Ado-Ekiti Magistrate District, did fraudulently convert the sum of N3,800,000:00 to his own use, property of Mr. Rotimi Ojumola, of Isato Street, Ado-Ekiti.
ASP Oriyomi said the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under Section 329(3) of the Criminal Laws of EKiti State of Nigeria 2021.
Counsel to the defendant, Barrister A. F. Awe, urged the court to admit the defendant to bail, assuring the court that he will not abscond.
The counsel further assured the court that the vehicle involved, RAV 4, would be brought and parked at the court premises.
But the prosecutor objected to the bail application that the defendant was tracked before he was brought to court for trial, adding that he would mismanage the bail conditions.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said the vehicle involved, RAV 4, be brought and parked at the court premises.
