The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with cable vandalism and the theft of six generators from the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Jega Local Government Area.
In a press Statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, Kebbi State Command SP Bishir Usman, Higlighted that On August 28, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m., police operatives arrested a 24-year-old suspect, Aliyu Muhammed of Dudduke Village in Jega LGA, in possession of bundles of aluminium cable wires concealed in a sack.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to conspiring with Yusuf Dudduke to vandalise and steal cables from an electric pole in Dudduke Village. Yusuf was subsequently arrested.
In a related development, detectives investigating a report of breaking and entry at the INEC office in Jega, where six generators were stolen, arrested four additional suspects and recovered all six generators.
Police said one of the generators had already been dismantled into scrap parts for sale before the recovery.
All six suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Umar M. Hadejia, warned that vandalism of critical infrastructure, breaking and entry, and theft of government property would attract severe penalties.
