Terror attack: Kebbi to support families of slain police officers

The Kebbi State Government has pledged to support the families of 10 police officers and other civilians killed by bandits at Rafin Makuku in Sakaba Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Nasir Idris made the pledge on Tuesday when a delegation from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, led by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Umar Dada, paid him a condolence visit at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

He said the officers were deployed to the area to support other security agencies in the fight against terrorism and other criminal activities when they came under attack.

While commiserating with the IGP and the Nigeria Police Force over the deaths, the governor said it was the tradition of the state government to support the families of security personnel killed in the line of duty.

“It is our tradition in Kebbi to support the families of fallen security personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty.

“The Kebbi State Government will support the families of the officers who lost their lives,” he said.

Earlier, DIG Dada assured the governor that the police would intensify efforts to arrest those responsible for the attack and bring them to justice.

“Be assured that we are not going to relent in our efforts. Those responsible for the attack will be arrested and brought to book,” he said.

He commended the state government for its continued support for the police and other security agencies.

Dada also disclosed that a police squadron would soon be established in Kebbi State to strengthen security operations and enhance the protection of lives and property.
