Pantami’s Supporters Turn To Prayers After INEC Candidate List Omission

Backers of the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, have turned to divine assistance following the exclusion of his name from the final list of governorship hopefuls released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The supporters on Wednesday converged on the premises of Government Comprehensive Day Secondary School in Gombe metropolis, where they held a special prayer session seeking divine intervention over what they described as a politically motivated exclusion.

The enthusiastic supporters offered prayers for justice and for the restoration of Pantami as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They also prayed to Allah to protect Pantami from all evil and to grant him victory in his political endeavors.

One of the supporters, Ahmed Sani, said they organized the prayer session to seek Allah’s intervention in addition to ongoing legal and political efforts.

He said, “We believe power belongs to Almighty Allah. We have done the needful politically and legally; now we are handing the matter to Allah. Prof. Pantami is our hope for Gombe, and we are confident that justice will prevail.”

Another supporter, Ibrahim Mohammed, stated that despite all the struggles their principal was going through, they resorted to special prayers for the success of Pantami’s case with INEC.

Daily Trust reports that Pantami’s name was omitted from the final list released by INEC on October 10—a development his legal team, Ahmed Raji & Co., described as unlawful, issuing the electoral commission a three-day ultimatum to publish his name.

However, INEC, in a circular released on Tuesday, said the omission of Pantami and other candidates from its final list was due to non-compliance with Section 77 of the Electoral Act 2026.
