Security agencies have delayed an immediate advance on the suspected hideout of kidnappers holding prospective National Youth Service Corps members in Imo State after intelligence indicated that the camp had been mined with improvised explosive devices.
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Audu Bosso, disclosed on Saturday that operatives had located the suspected camp where the victims were being held but could not immediately move in because of the IED threat.
He said security personnel trailed the kidnappers into the bush and deployed drones on Friday, which pinpointed the suspected location.

A fresh revelation has emerged in respect of the circumstances surrounding the assassination of Kudirat, wife of June 12, 1993 presidential election winner Bashorun MKO Abiola, while fighting for the restoration of her husband’s mandate.
The late Kudirat was shot dead while travelling near the 7-Up Bus Stop, Ikeja, Lagos by a team of armed men reportedly led by Barnabas Jabila a.k.a. Sergeant Rogers, believed to be working for the military government led by the late Gen. Sani Abacha on June 4, 1996.
She was believed to be heading to a political engagement as part of her active campaign to secure the release of her husband detained by the junta when she was brutally murdered.
But in a new documentary authored by US-based veteran journalist Ose Oyamendan, one of Abiola’s sons, Abdulmumini, revealed that his mother’s death might have been averted if she had heeded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s warning that her life was in danger as well as his counsel that she should leave the country immediately.
