Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged aggrieved members of the party to reconcile and embrace one another saying the task ahead is for the transformation of Nigeria.
Chairman of the NDC in Edo State, Babatunde David Olukoga, made the remark during the unveiling of the party’s senatorial and House of Representatives candidates ahead of the 2027 election in the state.
Olukoga appealed to party members to put the past behind them and embrace peace and unity to enhance the party’s chances of winning the 2027 elections in Edo State.
He noted that the 2027 general election is about the future of Nigeria, describing the NDC as the movement driving the process to reset the country, with Peter Obi as its presidential candidate.
He said the party needs to put behind it the disagreements and acrimonies that characterised the primaries, noting that infighting would not help it during the election.
He stressed that infighting would do the party no good ahead of the election, adding that grievances could always be resolved through dialogue adding that the party is determined to resolve all outstanding issues affecting its unity in the state.
“We are calling on all members of this party, and we are appealing to you. We know there are issues and that people are aggrieved in one way or another. But we are all family, and we should all leave here with a smile at the end of the day.”
Also speaking, the Edo North Senatorial leader of the party, Hon. Silver Oshiokpekha, urged members to remain united to dethrone the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
He said the NDC, with Peter Obi as its presidential candidate, was coming to reset Nigeria into a nation where institutions work, rather than one where individuals control the state.
