Modele Sarafa-Yusuf, former special adviser to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, yesterday resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Her resignation came about four months after losing the party’s governorship ticket to Ogun West Senator, Solomon Adeola, aka Yayi, who was adopted as the consensus candidate.
In February, Sarafa-Yusuf declared her intention to contest the 2027 Ogun governorship election on the platform of the APC.
Announcing her resignation from the party in a statement posted on X on Thursday, Sarafa-Yusuf said she had informed the APC leadership in Ogun state and submitted her resignation letter.
According to her, the decision followed an extended period of travelling, spending time with family, and engaging in thought and quiet reflection.
“My time in the APC has been an important part of my political journey, and I am grateful for the people I have met, the relationships I have built and the experiences that have shaped my understanding of public service and leadership,” she said.
