Kwankwaso Denies Rumours of NDC Dropping Out for ADC

Senator Rabiu Musa, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has rubbished claims suggesting his party might exit the presidential race to back the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 polls. Reassuring supporters that their ticket remains fully in the race, Musa expressed strong optimism about winning. In a statement shared on his social media page, he criticized the ADC Presidential Campaign Council for launching attacks against him, presidential flagbearer Peter Obi, and the entire party instead of focusing on promoting their own candidate. He maintained that narratives linking the NDC to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or suggesting plans to step down are entirely false and designed to confuse voters.

“We will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence and readiness to lead Nigeria,” he said. ‎ ‎Kwankwaso, also a former Governor of Kano State, alleged that the ADC campaign team was engaged in “mischief” against his party and warned supporters against any last-minute claims suggesting that the NDC had endorsed or withdrawn in favour of another presidential candidate. ‎ ‎He advised the ADC campaign council to focus on addressing allegations reportedly made against its candidate by Vice President Kashim Shettima instead of targeting the NDC leadership. ‎ ‎According to him, the NDC presidential ticket, which he described as the “OK ticket”, is not working for the APC or any of its candidates and has no reason to step down for any political party. ‎ ‎“The OK ticket is neither working for nor acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates. We see no possibility or reason to withdraw from the presidential race in favour of the ADC candidate or any other,” he said. ‎ ‎He also took a swipe at the APC-led administration, saying the government had failed Nigerians, while maintaining that the ADC does not offer a better alternative. ‎ ‎Kwankwaso described the NDC as the most formidable opposition party in the country and urged its supporters to remain committed to securing victory for the party in the forthcoming election. ‎ ‎He said the NDC ticket is committed to addressing challenges in security, education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and the economy, while promoting national unity. ‎ ‎“Nigeria will be OK,” he added.
