Hyundai Launches Mufasa and Grand Creta SUVs in Nigeria

Hyundai Motors Nigeria has broadened its sport utility vehicle lineup by launching the brand-new Hyundai Mufasa and Grand Creta, aimed at motorists looking for contemporary styling, enhanced comfort, cutting-edge technology, and flexible driving choices.

The two models were unveiled in Lagos as part of the company’s efforts to strengthen its presence in Nigeria’s automotive market and provide more options for families, professionals and business executives.

Speaking at the launch, the General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motors Nigeria, Mr. Gaurav Vashisht, said the new models were designed to meet the changing preferences of Nigerian motorists, particularly the growing demand for SUVs that combine comfort, safety and technology.

He said the Mufasa and Grand Creta offered distinct features to cater to different customer needs while maintaining Hyundai’s standards of quality and innovation.

The Hyundai Mufasa is a five-seater SUV featuring a bold exterior design, prominent front grille, signature LED lighting and a spacious cabin.

The vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre Smartstream multi-point injection petrol engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Depending on the market specification, the engine delivers approximately 150 to 160 horsepower and 193Nm of torque.

With a wheelbase of 2,680mm, the Mufasa offers interior space designed to accommodate passengers comfortably while retaining practicality for everyday commuting and longer journeys.

Its available features include touchscreen infotainment, smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, wireless charging and selectable driving modes, depending on the variant.

Safety and driver-assistance features include anti-lock braking systems, electronic stability control, airbags and parking assistance, subject to specification.

The Grand Creta, meanwhile, is a seven-seater SUV designed for larger families and customers requiring additional passenger capacity and flexible luggage space.

The model’s 2,760mm wheelbase supports a three-row cabin, with seating arrangements that can be adapted to accommodate passengers or luggage.

Available features include an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, rear air-conditioning vents, keyless entry and push-button start. Higher variants offer additional equipment such as a digital instrument cluster, leather-appointed seats, ventilated front seats, wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof.

Safety equipment available across Grand Creta variants includes six airbags, anti-lock braking systems, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points.

Vashisht said the launch was part of Hyundai’s broader strategy to provide vehicles suited to different lifestyles while strengthening customer confidence through its dealership network, after-sales services and genuine spare-parts supply.

He said the Mufasa would appeal to customers seeking distinctive styling and modern technology, while the Grand Creta would serve buyers prioritising space, comfort and versatility.

The new models join Hyundai’s existing SUV lineup, which includes the Creta, Tucson, Santa Fe and Palisade.

Their introduction comes as automakers compete to attract Nigerian buyers with vehicles offering a combination of performance, safety, comfort and long-term ownership value.

Hyundai Motors Nigeria said the expanded lineup would provide customers with more choices across the SUV segment, supported by its authorised dealerships and after-sales service network.
