Google Cloud Outage Knocks Out Revolut Banking And Payments

On Tuesday, technical failures within Google Cloud’s London infrastructure disrupted several services, as digital financial platform Revolut experienced widespread outages that impacted customer card transactions and cash machine withdrawals.

Revolut’s status page showed that most of its services were either unavailable or operating only partially. The bank’s outage was linked to the Google Cloud disruption, according to a person familiar with the matter.

In a statement posted on X, Revolut confirmed the disruption but sought to reassure customers about the security of their accounts.

“We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services. We can confirm that all our customers’ money and data are safe,” the company said.

Google said its engineering team was investigating the issue, which affected its europe-west2 data centre in London.

The company had not immediately provided further details about the cause or extent of the disruption.

Separately, ING Germany reported difficulties with online banking logins and access to its banking app, attributing the problems to a technical issue.
