The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has brought Abdulmajid Halifa Nazifi before a Kano State High Court, charging him with the alleged misappropriation of N34.875 million intended for acquiring spaghetti from BUA.
Nazifi was arraigned on wednesday before Justice Musa Karaye on a one-count charge of criminal misappropriation.
According to the charge, the defendant allegedly misappropriated the money belonging to Fahad Balarabe Adaji between September and October 2024 in Kano.
The prosecution alleged that the money was transferred, on the defendant’s instruction, into the First Bank account of one Muazu Abdullahi for the purchase of IRS spaghetti from BUA but was diverted for his personal use.
The alleged offence contravenes Section 308 of the Kano State Penal Code Law and is punishable under Section 309 of the same law.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
Following his plea, prosecution counsel, Mustapha Maiwada, asked the court to fix a date for trial and remand the defendant in a correctional facility.
Justice Karaye ordered that Nazifi be remanded in a correctional centre and adjourned the case until November 2, 2026, for further hearing.
