Why Jigawa Governor Pities Himself Over Oath Of Office

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has expressed that he frequently feels emotional and overwhelmed with self-reflection whenever he recalls the oath of office he took, viewing it as a stark reminder of the massive duty placed upon him to govern the populace with fairness, transparency, and integrity.

The governor made this known while swearing in Umar Nasir Ahmad as the Acting Grand Kadi of the Jigawa State Sharia Court on Thursday, where he urged the new judicial head to uphold justice without fear, favour or external influence.

He urged the new judicial officer to remain guided by the oath of office and ensure that justice is served without fear, favour or external influence.

The governor described the judiciary as the last hope of the common man, saying public confidence in the justice system depends on the belief that everyone, regardless of status or background, can obtain justice.

He stressed that justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done, adding that the new Acting Grand Kadi must uphold fairness, impartiality and the highest standards of judicial integrity.

Namadi also advised him to embrace teamwork and avoid dictatorial leadership, noting that collective decision-making and cooperation would produce better results.

He congratulated Ahmad on his appointment and urged him to discharge his responsibilities in accordance with the teachings of Islam.

In his response, the Acting Grand Kadi thanked the governor and the people of Jigawa State for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to uphold the principles of Sharia law with fairness and the fear of God, adding that he would prioritise speedy delivery of justice through careful consideration of cases.
