Nile University and Police Partner on Cybersecurity and Training

The Vice-Chancellor of Nile University of Nigeria, alongside senior university management, recently visited Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to explore strategic partnerships between the institution and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the Nigeria Police Force for its continued support in providing security for the University community. He also commended the Inspector-General’s leadership and efforts to promote innovation and drive positive change within Nigeria’s security sector.

He acknowledged the Federal Government’s decision to appoint a leader with the resourcefulness to advance the Force’s responsibilities, noting that the University’s operations and achievements depend, in part, on the support of the security personnel who safeguard its community.

In his response, the Inspector-General welcomed the visit and highlighted opportunities for collaboration in professional training, research and knowledge exchange. He observed that many police personnel are interested in further education and professional development, identifying opportunities for the University to support these learning needs.

The IGP also highlighted the NPF’s cybersecurity team’s capabilities, describing it as one of the best in Africa. He proposed opportunities for Nile University of Nigeria students to undertake internships with the Force, which could provide practical exposure to cybersecurity operations and create opportunities for knowledge exchange between both institutions.

Responding to the proposals, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the University’s commitment to lifelong learning and its capacity to offer flexible learning opportunities for professionals seeking to advance their knowledge and qualifications. He also emphasised the importance of equipping graduates with relevant professional competencies and practical skills, citing the University’s partnership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) as an example of its approach to industry-aligned learning.
