Lagos Expands Olusosun Dumpsite to Speed Up Waste Collection

To accommodate a higher volume of waste trucks and boost operational efficiency, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has initiated stabilization and extension operations on tipping platforms E1 and E2 at the Olusosun Dumpsite.

The Lagos State Government disclosed this in a statement via its X handle on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

According to the statement, LAWMA’s Executive Director, Finance, Kunle Adebiyi, announced the commencement of the project at Ijora-Olopa on Monday.

Adebiyi said the project was being executed by Zoomlion Nigeria Limited to increase the capacity of the tipping platforms, allowing more waste trucks to discharge waste simultaneously while improving safety at the facility.

The statement quoted him as saying the works were progressing according to schedule.

It added that the completion of the project, alongside major improvement works at other waste disposal facilities, including Solus III and Epe, would strengthen waste evacuation infrastructure across the state.

“Work is progressing on site as scheduled, and its completion alongside major improvement works in other dumping facilities, including Solus III and Epe, will strengthen waste evacuation infrastructure and improve service delivery across Lagos State by significantly reducing truck turnaround time,” the statement said.

LAWMA also called on Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators, waste truck drivers and other stakeholders to cooperate with the authorities during the rehabilitation works.

The agency said their cooperation would help ensure smooth operations and the timely completion of the project.

It reaffirmed its commitment to upgrading waste management infrastructure, improving operational efficiency and maintaining a cleaner and healthier environment across Lagos State.
