Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has commended the appointment of former governor of the state, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, as Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday announced its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, with Yari named as Director-General.
Reacting to the appointment, Lawal described Yari’s selection as a recognition of his leadership experience and organisational capacity.
The governor said the appointment was a positive development for the APC and expressed confidence that Yari would contribute to the party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Lawal said the appointment was a source of pride to the people of Zamfara State.
“On behalf of the people of Zamfara State, we extend sincere gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing one of our own, former Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, as Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Campaign Council.
“This appointment is a moment of pride for all of us,” he said.
Lawal said Yari’s appointment would boost the morale of APC members and strengthen their commitment to the party’s objectives.
He added that with Yari leading the presidential campaign, the APC was well positioned to mobilise support for President Tinubu and advance his agenda ahead of the 2027 election.
The governor also congratulated former Zamfara governors Ahmed Sani Yarima, Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi and Bello Matawalle on their appointments to various positions in the Presidential Campaign Council.
He said their experience and leadership would contribute to the campaign and strengthen the APC’s efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
