Troops Kill Terrorists And Recover Weapons In Sokoto

During clearance operations in Sokoto State, military personnel from the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully neutralized two terrorists, recovering four AK-47 rifles and eight motorcycles in the process.

The Media Information Officer of the taskforce, Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

He said the operations were conducted by troops of Sector 2 on October 15, during which they engaged terrorists in a firefight at Waria Forest.

The troops neutralised one terrorist during the encounter and recovered two AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles and other items.

In a separate encounter at Sarma Village, the troops engaged another group of terrorists, killing one and forcing others to flee, abandoning their equipment.

Further searches in the area led to the recovery of six additional motorcycles, two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 23 rounds of ammunition, one communication device and other items.

Danja said the successes demonstrated the troops’ commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace and security across the Joint Operations Area.

He appreciated the continued support and cooperation of the public, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost.
