Osun 2026: Oyetola left ₦15bn, Adeleke’s ’empty treasury’ claims misleading — Oyebamiji

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the upcoming Osun State election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has countered the financial narrative pushed by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, asserting that former Governor Gboyega Oyetola left ₦15 billion in state coffers.

Speaking at an Arise TV Town Hall Meeting in Osogbo, Osun State on Tuesday, Oyebamiji addressed campaign key issues, dismissing claims that the current government inherited an empty treasury as politically motivated distortions.

Oyebamiji argued that the financial allocations entering Osun State under the current leadership vastly exceed those of previous governments, largely driven by federal fiscal reforms initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, he insisted that the increased revenue has not translated into tangible physical or socio-economic development.

“As at today in Osun, 97 per cent of resources go to just two local governments. That is an aberration; actually, it is criminal,” Oyebamiji declared during the broadcast.

“In 12 years of APC, Aregbesola and Oyetola, Osun got only ₦450 billion. In three and a half years of Adeleke, they have collected ₦650 billion. How does ₦650 billion match what we see in Osun today?”

The APC standard-bearer commended President Tinubu’s removal of the fuel subsidy, noting that while the decision required courage, it significantly boosted allocations across all tiers of government.

He stressed that Osun’s share of these funds should be driving infrastructure projects and social services rather than vanishing without measurable impact.

“The resources available to the present administration in Osun have never been available to any governor of this state in this manner,” Oyebamiji stated. “But when you look around Osun today, there is nothing that commensurates with the level of resources available to the government.”

Pledging a complete departure from current fiscal practices if elected, Oyebamiji promised an administration built on transparency, fiscal discipline, and equitable revenue distribution across all local government areas.

“Our goal is to build an Osun economy where young people have opportunities, businesses can thrive, workers are properly supported, and communities across the state receive equitable attention,” he added.
