Two individuals have been taken into custody by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over accusations of stealing railway materials located in Kanwa Village, situated within the Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.
The State commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, said 50 railway sleeper clips were recovered from the suspects, while 205 others remained missing.
He identified the suspects as Shamsu Isyaku, 25, of Kanwa Village, and Shehu Yakubu, 40, of Kanwa Yamma, both in Madobi LGA.
Agalama said Isyaku was suspected to be the principal suspect, while Yakubu was allegedly involved in receiving and purchasing the stolen materials.
He added that another suspect, identified as Saleh Kanwa, was still at large, while investigations were ongoing to recover the missing clips and identify other persons involved.
The commandant warned those involved in the theft and trading of railway materials that they would face the full weight of the law.
He also urged members of the public to provide useful information to security agencies to help apprehend the fleeing suspect and protect critical national infrastructure.
