The military said the operations, conducted on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, were part of ongoing efforts to curb terrorist activities and protect lives and property across the North-West.
In a statement, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, said troops of Sector 2 came under attack while conducting a fighting patrol to clear the Anka-Guruzu Road following reports of terrorist activities in the area.
He said the terrorists launched a coordinated ambush from both sides of the road but were forced to retreat after the troops responded with superior firepower, inflicting heavy casualties on them.
The statement added that the troops subsequently secured the road and restored freedom of movement for commuters, although one soldier sustained a gunshot injury and was evacuated for medical attention. The soldier was said to be in stable condition.
In a separate operation in Sokoto State, the troops foiled an attempt by terrorists to rustle livestock and abduct herders at Takasaba village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
