Gunmen abduct 3 varsity students in Nasarawa

Gunmen have abducted three students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) from an off-campus hostel in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

A student, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, told Daily Trust that the incident occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on Saturday at Sure Leaders Lodge in the Bukan Kwato area of the town.

According to the source, the victims are 100-level students of the university.

The incident is the latest security breach involving students of the institution and has heightened concerns among students and parents over safety around off-campus hostels in Lafia.

As of the time of filing this report, the management of FULafia had not issued an official statement on the incident.

However, sources in the university’s Information Unit said they were not aware of the reported abduction but confirmed an attack on a female student of the institution.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the students were abducted on Saturday night.

“This happened Saturday night,” Nansel said.
