Through its We’re Not Done campaign, the Adekunle Gold Foundation has donated $20,000 to four different groups supporting individuals living with sickle cell disease.
The funding, supported by PESA, will go to Sickle Life, Not Just You, SAMI Update and ITAV Campaign to help them expand their reach and strengthen their work.
Announcing the initiative, Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold said the fight against sickle cell disease requires collective effort, with more work needed to improve lives within the community.
“The fight against sickle cell is bigger than any one person or foundation,” he said in a video announcing the initiative.
He explained that the foundation would redistribute donations it receives to organisations carrying out critical work in the sickle cell community.
Adekunle Gold said the four beneficiaries deserved financial support to reach more people and sustain their efforts, beyond receiving public recognition for their work.
The singer also invited individuals and organisations interested in supporting the initiative to contact the foundation through info@adekunlegoldfoundation.com or make donations via adekunlegoldfoundation.com.
The foundation said it hopes to support more organisations in the future as it continues its efforts to improve support for people affected by sickle cell disease.
