Uba Sani unveils Jerry Adams as running mate

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has officially unveiled the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Mr. Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

Daily Trust had exclusively reported that the governor had settled for a Christian from Southern Kaduna, and identified Jerry Adams as the likely nominee.

The governor’s announcement on Tuesday confirmed the report.

In a statement personally signed by him, Governor Sani said the nomination of Adams represents a decisive step in the administration’s vision of building a more united, peaceful and inclusive Kaduna State.

He said the decision was not merely about selecting a deputy governorship candidate but a reaffirmation of the values of inclusion, justice, fairness and equity that have guided his administration since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.

“Today, we take another decisive step in our collective journey towards building a more united, peaceful and inclusive Kaduna State,” the governor said.

According to him, Kaduna’s religious, ethnic and cultural diversity remains one of its greatest strengths, stressing that sustainable peace and development can only be achieved through inclusive governance and equal opportunities for all citizens.

The governor said his administration has deliberately ensured that development projects and government interventions cut across all the 23 local government areas of the state, with investments in roads, schools, healthcare, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection guided by the principle that no community should be left behind.

He said the government had also strengthened partnerships with traditional rulers, religious leaders, community organisations, women and youth groups to consolidate peace across the state.

Sani noted that the improving security situation has enabled many farmers to return to their farms, encouraged businesses to expand and restored confidence among investors.

He said Adams’ leadership had enhanced the state’s internally generated revenue through innovation, transparency and professionalism, thereby providing the government with additional resources to invest in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and other critical sectors.

Governor Sani further described his running mate as a man of integrity, humility and quiet strength who has consistently demonstrated commitment to peace, reconciliation and inclusive governance.

According to him, Adams’ emergence reflects his administration’s determination to ensure that merit, competence and character remain the defining criteria for leadership.

The governor urged residents of Kaduna State to view the nomination beyond religious, ethnic or regional considerations and embrace the broader vision of a state where every citizen has a sense of belonging and equal opportunity to succeed.

He expressed confidence that the administration would continue to build on the foundations it has laid over the past three years and deliver a more united, secure, just and prosperous Kaduna State.
