TRCN Launches Teacher Registration and Licensing Compliance Drive in Zamfara

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), working alongside the Zamfara State Teachers Service Board (TSB), has kicked off a comprehensive compliance monitoring campaign to oversee teacher registration and licensing throughout the state.

The exercise was flagged off at Government Day Secondary School, Millennium Quarters, Gusau, with officials sensitising teachers on the importance of professional registration and compliance with TRCN requirements.

Speaking at the event, Chairperson of the Zamfara State Teachers Service Board, Hajiya Ummu Yusuf Anka, said professionalism was critical to improving the quality of education in the state.

She said a well-trained, qualified and professionally regulated teaching workforce was necessary for sustainable improvement in the education sector.

In a statement signed by the board’s Information Officer, Abubakar Muhammad Tukur, Anka reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening education and creating an enabling environment for teachers to contribute to human capital development.

She urged teachers who had not registered with TRCN to use the exercise to complete their registration and licensing.

Anka described professional registration as an important step towards strengthening accountability, professionalism and standards in the teaching profession.

Also speaking, the TRCN state coordinator, Nura Shiitu Moriki, highlighted the benefits of registration with the council.

He said registration provided teachers with professional recognition and was relevant to career progression, promotion and access to other professional opportunities.

Following the flag-off, three monitoring teams were deployed to the three senatorial zones to conduct sensitisation and compliance monitoring in selected schools.

The Central Senatorial Zone team, led by Anka, visited selected primary and secondary schools in Gusau, where teachers were sensitised on professional registration, licensing and compliance with TRCN regulations.
