Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, the esteemed village head of Aujarawar Alkali located within the Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, has tragically been killed by the individuals who abducted him.
Ahmad was abducted on Tuesday, September 17, 2026, when the gunmen stormed the community in the night and took him away.
His body was reportedly recovered after his abductors killed him.
Funeral prayers were conducted at 3pm on Wednesday, after which he was buried.
Musa Garba, a resident of Gezawa, confirmed the development to our reporter in a telephone interview.
According to him, the assailants tortured the village head to death by cutting off one of his legs and tying his hands.
Garba said that the abductors later buried the remains of the village head in a shallow grave in a village called Danladin Gezawa.
He said, “I attend the funeral prayers today (Wednesday) at around 3pm. The assailants tortured the village head to death by cutting off one of his legs and tying his hand behind him. He was brutalized until he died.
“After his death, the abductors buried his remains in a shallow grave in a village called Danladin Gezawa. Four days later some village discovered the grave and raised the alarm.
“The remains was identified by the deceased’s wife. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead and later buried by the hospital officials because the remains was already decomposing.”
Police are yet to issue a formal statement regarding the incident.
