Using sex toys not a sin — Apostle Aghasedo + Video

Apostle Joshua Aghasedo, the Lead Pastor of Powerline Church, has set off a wave of online discussion after telling his congregation that sex toys are not sinful when used by married people, comparing them to everyday technology like cars and phones.

Addressing the topic directly during a sermon, he opened with rhetorical questions: “Is driving a car a sin? Is using a phone a sin?”

Aghasedo’s point was that these are simply equipment and tools that serve a function and that the same logic extends to sex toys.

He was careful to frame his comments within marriage.

As he puts it, a sex toy is “an equipment to help the process”, useful “when I look at all the surrounding circumstances.”

He went on to say he has personally recommended a sex toy to at least one married couple in the past, explaining his reasoning was to help keep intimacy contained within the relationship rather than for them to seek pleasure elsewhere.

Aghasedo also drew a sharp line: his endorsement applies strictly to married couples, “not outside.”

Used individually, he said, the same act becomes masturbation, which, in his theological framing, he equated with fornication.

The Apostle added that he has never personally used a sex toy himself, positioning his comments as pastoral guidance rather than personal testimony.
