2027: ADC Reps Aspirant Defects to APC in Gombe

An aspirant for the House of Representatives under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Mohammed Danjuma, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Danjuma, popularly known as Garkuwa Babba, is a former ADC aspirant for the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency seat and National Chairman of the ADC House of Representatives Aspirants Forum.

Daily Trust reports that he announced his defection to the APC after he visited Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, where he pledged his support to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Garkuwa Babba added that he will mobilise his political network and grassroots structure in support of Governor Yahaya’s senatorial bid and the APC governorship candidate in the state, Dr Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna and other APC candidates.

He also pledged his loyalty to the leadership of Governor Yahaya, attributing his decision to join the APC largely to the Governor’s performance, leadership and development record.

Garkuwa commended Inuwa Yahaya’s achievements across Gombe State, saying the governor’s record of delivering tangible development had strengthened public confidence in the APC and significantly diminished the appeal of the opposition among the electorate.

According to him, joining the APC was a deliberate decision to support continuity, stability and further development of the state.

Receiving the former ADC chieftain, Governor Yahaya expressed appreciation for his decision to join the ruling party and contribute to its continued progress, describing the development as a significant boost to the APC.

He reaffirmed his commitment to an inclusive and united APC, and warmly welcomed Garkuwa Babba and his supporters, stressing the importance of unity, loyalty and collective effort in advancing the interests of the state.

Governor Yahaya said the APC remained open to individuals and groups who share the vision of a peaceful, stable and prosperous Gombe State, assuring the new entrant that his experience, network and political reach would be valuable to the party.

He also called for continued cohesion among APC members and stakeholders, noting that the strength of the party would remain rooted in its ability to accommodate diverse interests while maintaining a common commitment to the development of the state.
