US Singer Chris Brown Gets Suspended Prison Sentence in UK

American musician Chris Brown has received an eight-month prison term, which has been suspended for a year, stemming from a physical altercation with a man at a London nightclub in February 2023.

According to Sky News, Brown was found guilty of affray after pleading guilty to the charge over a confrontation at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, near Oxford Circus.

The singer had been accused of attacking Abraham Diaw during the incident, in which the victim was struck over the head with a bottle.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Brown and his vocal coach approached Diaw from the dancefloor before moving through the crowd and attacking him.

The CPS said the pair “struck him twice over the head with a glass bottle”.

The prosecution added that they “continued their assault whilst the victim attempted to flee through the club” and that “the victim was kicked while he was seated defenceless on the floor”.

Diaw was subsequently taken to St Mary’s Hospital, where he received treatment for head and knee injuries.

Brown’s suspended sentence means he will not serve the eight-month prison term immediately, provided he complies with the conditions of the suspension.
