The Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State, Hassan Bello has returned to his duty post after last weeks invitation to the police high command in Abuja over alleged destruction of campaign billboards in the state capital.
Daily Trust reported that the ADC and the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the Governor, Abdulganiyu Bello, were quizzed in Abuja following alleged political difference between the Governor and the Special Adviser to the President on political matters, Ibrahim Masari.
However, seven days after they were invited, sources familiar with the matter at the Katsina state government house told our correspondent that the ADC to the governor has returned while the CSO is yet to be seen within the governor’s security team.
However, the CSO’s continued absence has sparked questions within the political and security circles of the state, particularly because of the sensitive nature of his assignment.
It can be recalled that the Nigeria Police Force had reportedly explained that the officers were invited for questioning and that the security personnel were not arrested or detained.
Though the development has also generated speculation against the backdrop of increasing political activities in Katsina ahead of the 2027 general elections, the recent alleged disagreements within the circumstances surrounding the invitation and the reason for their continued absence have remained unclear.
Moreover, there has been no clear public confirmation of the CSO’s current status and as of Thursday, August 27, neither the Katsina State Government nor the police had provided a fresh official explanation on whether the governor’s ADC and CSO had been released, cleared or when they would resume their assignments.
Our correspondents report however that the disagreement has heightened tension in the state ahead of the 2027 elections as people view the disagreement as battle for politcal turf between the Governor and the Presidential Adviser.
